History of the Crest
Sunflower and Bee (At least 1915 and after)
The college crest was the Sunflower and the Bee from the early days of the school.
Standing Lion and the Dagaba (After 1937)
In 1933 the College Union was started with the aim of managing the college activities. The college crest in the present form — with the lion and the dagaba — was designed by the College Union Council between 1933 and 1937 (no reference to the exact year or date is found). The crest was designed by Mr. D.B. Ranaraja, an Old Boy of the College who was at the time the Secretary of the Council.

Redrawn with Artistic Features in 1952
Mr. T.B. Karunarathna, who was a teacher of the college and later became the Director of Arts of the Education Department, redrawn the crest in 1952 with refined artistic features.

Standardization in 2000
The college crest and flag were standardized in 2000 by a group of eminent Old Boys under the presidentship of Mr. Gamini Gunawardhena and officially accepted by the OBU and the college.

- කඩුව — සම්බුද්ධ ශාසනය සිංහල ජාතිය සුරැකීමට වගකීමෙන් යුක්තව ඉදිරිපත් වීමට මුවහත් කඩුව
- කහ පැහැය — බෞද්ධකම
- අහස් නිල — අනන්ත විශ්වය අධ්යාත්මික පාරිශුද්ධත්වය
- කේෂර 8 — ආර්ය අෂ්ටාංගික මාර්ගය
- රෝම 7 — සප්ත අපරිහානි ධර්ම
- චෛත්යය — ශීල, සමාධි, ප්රඥා
- ලෝහිත පැහැය — සජීවී ප්රාණවත් බව

Use of the Crest
පහත සදහන් සියළු කටයුතු වලට පෙර වර්තමාන විදුහල්පති වරයාගේ අනුමැතියක් ලබා ගත යුතුය.
- ලිපි හිසක ඉහලින්ම මුද්රණය කල යුතුය.
- නිකර එක් වර්ණයකින් ඉරි වලින් පමණක් (රේඛා චිත්රයක් ලෙස) මුද්රණය කල හැක.
- එසේ නොමැති නම් සම්පූර්ණයෙන් ප්රමිතියට අනුකූල වර්ණවලින්ම මුද්රණය කළ යුතුය.
- විද්යාලයීය වර්ණ දිනාගත් ශිෂ්යයෙකු විදුහල්පතිතුමා විසින්ම නිකුත් කරන ලද කබා ලාංඡනයක් පැළඳිය යුතුය (පපුව මත වම්පස).
- ලාංඡනය සිරුරේ ඉදිරිපස මත හෝ ඉහළ ස්ථානයක පැළඳිය යුතුය. කිසිම අයුරකින් ක්රීඩා කොමිසේකවත් පසුපස නොපැළඳිය යුතුය.
- විද්යාල භූමිය තුල හෝ කිසියම් ස්ථානයකින් ලාංඡනය ප්රදර්ශනය කරන්නේ නම් අවම වශයෙන් අඩි හතකට වඩා ඉහළින් සවි කල යුතුය.
- එල්ලන ස්ථානය පිරිසිදුව පවිත්රව තිබිය යුතුය. ලාංඡනය දුර්වර්ණ වී ඇත්නම් ඉවත් කළ යුතුය.
- ලාංඡනයේ කොටස් විද්යාලීය වෙනත් ලාංඡන වල නොයෙදිය යුතුය.
- උඩරට චිත්ර සැරසිලි වලින් මූලධර්ම නොදන්නා කෙනෙකු මෙම ලාංඡනය නැවත නිදහසේ අතින් ඇඳීමට ගොස් එය විකෘති නොකිරීමට වගබලා ගත යුතුය.
- නැවත මුද්රණය කිරීම, මැසීම, යම් තැනක ඇලවීම, ස්ථිකරයකට ගැනීම යනාදී කටයුතුවලදී විදුහල්පතිතුමාගෙන් ආදර්ශයක් ලබාගෙන 100% එයට සමාන, වර්ණ ප්රමිතිය සහ අනුපාතය අනුගමනය කළ යුතුය.
